Relax, go for a stroll, watch the calming ocean or get active on some of the world’s best Sunshine Coast beaches. With open stretches of soft white sand and sparkling warm water, most of the main beaches are patrolled by surf lifesavers. Swim, body surf, build a sand castle with the kids, or go for a long run, Sunshine Coast beaches are rarely crowded. Most beachfront parklands boast children’s playgrounds, undercover barbecue and picnic areas and toilets with plenty of parking. All set to enjoy your ultimate beach holiday.
Mount Coolum is a spectacular volcanic dome that presides over the Sunshine Coast landscape. Climbing to the top of this 25-million-year-old laccolith is a must-do when visiting the region – the views from the top are spectacular! Amazing coastal views, wildflowers, birdlife and geology feature here. Watch the sunrise or sunset and have some breathtaking photos to share. It’s just 3.5 km south of Coolum Beach, with parking available at the base of the mountain.
The Sunshine Coast has some of the warmest water in Australia, and you can surf all year round seven days a week! Golf courses on the Sunshine Coast range from casual 9 hole par threes to a number of highly regarded Championship layouts. It doesn’t matter what your handicap is, you will be on golfing heaven on the Sunshine Coast. Peregian, Twin Waters, Noosa Springs are just some of our gems to swing that club at.
Love to play doubles or singles? Sunshine Coast has the perfect weather for you to get out on the courts for a hit, or just practice being the next Roger or Serena. A variety of hard courts or synthetic grass courts are available, some fully equipped with a pro-shops, licensed cafés and bars, something to suit everyone’s needs. Book a court at Coolum or Peregian, or if you want to take some lessons, Fletcher’s School of Tennis is the perfect way to do it.
With more than 50km of surf beaches to chose from on the Sunshine Coast. Whiting, dart, bream and flatties are the main species you’ll find here, more experienced anglers may catch snapper, tuna and even Spanish mackeral. Off shore fishing produce a delectable variety of species. Reef fish include snapper, pearl perch, maori cod and tusk fish. Light game fishing includes tuna, various mackerel species, cobia and billfish.
